The Institute of Buddhist Dialectics (IBD) based at Dharamshala in India has undertaken a project entitled Ocean of Knowledge which dub and translate scientific movies covering various subjects into Tibetan. The sound proof Audio Visual Studio is located at the College for Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah, the sister concern of IBD. The project was initially started in early 2005 but could not bring out the translated DVDs due to hassles in getting the Intellectual Copy Right from various production houses especially BBC until recently. However, with much patience and effort we are able to get the copy right for the eight episodes of BBC Planet Series with the whopping sum of 100,000 rupees per episode. Each movie is of 55 minutes length.

Since this project aims to distribute the translated science movies to all the educational institutions including Buddhist monasteries and nunneries in India, Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet with a nominal price, we anticipate and appreciate generous individuals and organizations to fund this project to continue this charity work.

So far we have already produced five different science movies into Tibetan language. We have over thirty different science movies covering various subjects in line to be dubbed and translated into Tibetan. Slowly and steadily we are looking forward to widen our project on other subjects like history, language, movies on animals and so on. The following are the completed movies.
